Yolanda Mack, DeKalb State Court Judge-Elect
On May 21, 2024, Yolanda advanced to the Primary Runoff with 47% of the vote. She outperformed her opponents, despite having only a fraction of the campaign donations of the other candidates. On June 18, 2024, Judge-Elect Yolanda Mack completed her year-long campaign, receiving 65% of the vote to become the first judge elected to the DeKalb State Court bench in more than 20 years! Yolanda received more votes and more endorsements than any other candidate for any race in DeKalb County. Her victory is rooted in support from the community. She will officially begin her position in January of 2025.
Yolanda Mack, a graduate of Avondale High, is currently the Deputy District Attorney for the Sexual Assault Unit at the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office. She is currently responsible for leading a team of Senior Assistant District Attorneys in prosecuting felony cases of sexual assault against adult victims. Yolanda’s duties and responsibilities include supervision of Unit attorneys, evaluating and mentoring attorneys; conducting periodic Unit meetings; reviewing and approving requested leave time; assisting in developing policies and procedures for the Unit; assisting in developing goals and objectives for the Unit; ensuring courtroom coverage for all court dates; liaison between department management and the Unit; reviewing and approving transfer cases; participating in related trainings and community outreach; reporting to the Director of the Special Victims Unit.
Defending the Public and Prosecuting Felony Cases.
Yolanda started her career as a public defender. Now, Yolanda serves as the Deputy District Attorney for the Sexual Assault Unit. Prior to her current position, Yolanda served as the Deputy Chief District Attorney for the Domestic Violence & Sexual Assault Unit in DeKalb County from 2017-2020, where her team received the Unit of the Year Award in 2019. She focused on prosecuting felony cases involving intimate partner domestic violence, adult sexual assault, and domestic violence homicides.
